Sia debuted 'Saved My Life' at the end of the 'COVID Is No Joke' on-line event organized by Americares Foundation to raise funds for those which work on the frontline during the times of COVID-19 pandemic. The event aired on the 1st of May 2020. All the profit from the song, released for digital download and streaming on the next day, are donated to Americares and CORE Response.

The single arrived hours after Sia debuted “Saved My Life” during Americares’ COVID Is No Joke livestream fundraiser, which featured the singer – hidden behind a light fixture – performing the track accompanied only by a keyboard. The studio version adds additional instrumentation to the stripped-down livestream take; Kurstin recorded the song’s “Piano, Keyboards, Bass, Programming, Drums, Guitar” at his Los Angeles studio while Sia laid down her vocals while social distancing in Palm Springs, California.

Hidden behind a light fixture, Sia performed “Saved My Life” from her own home for the livestream event. The stripped down version of the song, featuring only a keyboard, emphasized Sia’s raw, powerful vocals and the track’s uplifting message. The studio version adds instrumentation like piano, drums and bass — all of which were recorded by Kurstin at his studio in Los Angeles — to the livestream take, while Sia’s vocals were recorded in Palm Springs while social distancing. “Someone must have sent you to save me tonight/I know that in darkness I have found my light,” she sings. “I know that in darkness I’ve been given sight/In your loving arms I feel delight.”
